What is Filipino Association of Nova Scotia all about (FANS)
The Filipino Association of Nova Scotia (FANS) is a voluntary and non-profit society that has been around since 1960s.
FANS was informally organized on December 24, 1964 during a social gathering amongst Filipinos at that time. It was then officially founded on August 9, 1968 and officially became a recognized society on June 10, 1974.
FANS aim to strengthen Filipino relationships through our shared goal of preserving and promoting Filipino culture in Nova Scotia.

Cultivate Close Relationships
Cultivate social and friendly relations among members and promote mutual understanding between Filipinos and people of all nations
Preserve Culture
Continue to preserve Filipino culture in our community through showcasing our talents in various arts like drama, dance, musical, visual, and culinary.
Assist Newcomers
The spirit of Bayanihan lives strong in our hearts and minds. We are always on the ready when newcomers call onto us for help and directions as they wade through the confusion of relocating to a new place.
Participate Charitable Activities
Aid members and non-members, who are Filipino in Nova Scotia or in the Philippines who are in need as a result of tragic events.
Send Correct Information
Keep members informed of current developments in the Society, in the community, and in the Philippines.
Connect Filipinos All Over the World
Coordinate and extend communication among Filipino organizations existing in Canada and other countries.
Promote Camaraderie
Encourage members and Filipinos in Nova Scotia to actively participate in community, civic and national affairs.
Boost Health and Fitness
Foster health and fitness among members through sports and recreational events of the Society.
Develop Leadership and Professionalism
Elevate our membership by conducting our associations’ activities in the most ethical and professional manner.

Exercise the rights vested in the Society by the Societies ACT R.S.N.S. 1967, Chapter 286
