“I saw that this is a powerful team”- Connie Lacson
The newly elected officers of the Filipino Association of Nova Scotia took their oath on February 4, 2024, at 5:00 pm via Zoom PM, administered by Connie Lacson, the Philippine Honorary Consul in Halifax. The planned in-person event at Halifax Tower was moved online due to bad weather, with an in-person meeting scheduled for February 11 at the original venue’s lounge for signing the oath.
The oath-taking, which started at 5:30 pm and concluded around 5:40 pm, was successful and attended by eighteen new and re-elected members of FANS. To accommodate the 45-minute time limit of the Zoom session, Dr. Manny Aquino suggested a brief introduction for the new organization members. He commended President Helen Espino-Burchell and expressed his support for the organization.
The oath-taking concluded with a positive note from Philippine Honorary Consul Connie Lacson, who expressed optimism for the organization’s future. President Helen Espino-Burchell also shared her optimism for the coming year, stating, “Bumabangon ang FANS, we have been quiet for a while, but this year will be different. Let’s preserve FANS.”
