Scholarship Program

For the year 2023, the Filipino Association of Nova Scotia is offering two (2) scholarships to the most deserving high school graduates who pass our F.A.N.S. scholarship’s eligibility and criteria requirement. Each scholars will receive $1000 each. A F.A.N.S. scholarship will be awarded only for full time attendance as defined by Revenue Canada to a degree, diploma or a certificate at a recognized university, college, or other institutions of higher learning.

Eligibility:

The applicant must be a dependent child of FANS paid members in good standing or an active member of our association.

Requirements:

  • – Grade 12 High School graduate applicants must have a minimum of 80% general average.
  • Have volunteer experience or have donated his/her time to a cause or an organization like Filipino Association of Nova Scotia.
  • All questions on the application form must be completed.
  • An official Letter of Registration (copy is acceptable) from a recognized university or other institution of higher learning must be included as well as receipt of tuition paid
  • An applicant must submit a 500-word-essay about (a) history of their parents coming to Nova Scotia; (b) their scholastic, sports and community achievements and (c) their future goals in going to a college or university.
  • An official transcript (copy is acceptable) of marks must be included.
  • Successful recipients of a scholarship must be prepared to enter into normal publicity that goes with receiving such an award (social media and/or website).
  • Successful recipients may also get involve in fundraising for the Scholarship Fund to give back to the future FANS scholars.
